Cumberland's older homes along Washington Street and the residential side streets have clay sewer laterals dating to the early 1900s. Root removal and trenchless pipe lining are our main offerings here — both done in-house. Back to all service areas or east-side Indianapolis drain service.
Cumberland is a small unincorporated community on the eastern edge of Marion County along US-40 (Washington Street), adjacent to Hancock County and the city of Greenfield to the east. The residential area sits in 46229, characterized by post-war ranch homes built along the National Road corridor in the 1940s–1960s and a more recent wave of suburban subdivision homes built in the 1980s–2000s along the Pendleton Pike corridor north of Washington Street. Pipe materials reflect the split: cast iron in the National Road corridor homes, PVC in the newer subdivisions.
The eastern Marion County / western Hancock County corridor has notably hard water — typically 200-230 ppm total hardness from the aquifer-sourced water supply. PVC drains in the newer Cumberland subdivisions accumulate calcium and magnesium scale continuously, narrowing the pipe bore even in homes only 15-25 years old. This is the most common reason for slow drains in newer Cumberland homes — not grease or a foreign object, but hard water scale that has built up year over year. Hydro jetting at 3,500-4,000 PSI removes it effectively. Cast iron homes in the older National Road section show the typical east-side pattern: internal scale and grease buildup with periodic root intrusion from the mature tree lines along Washington Street.

Most likely hard water scale. The eastern Marion / Hancock County aquifer water runs 200-230 ppm hardness — one of the harder supplies in the metro. Calcium deposits build up continuously on PVC drains, especially on horizontal runs and at traps. Hydro jetting removes it.
